Randolph, who worked with Richard Childress Racing's Casey Mears on the organization's No. 07 team this season, began his Cup career with Junior Johnson. He has worked with a number of organizations, including Dale Earnhardt Inc., Bill Davis Racing and Petty Enterprises, where he worked with Labonte in 2007.<a href="http://www.scenedaily.com/news/articles/sprintcupseries/Veteran_crew_chief_Doug_Randolph_to_work_with_Bobby_Labonte_at_TRG_Motorsports_.html" target="new">(scenedaily.com)</a> <P> <H2>Danica Will Run Nationwide Limited Schedule</H2> At last, the long-awaited announcement is official -- Go Daddy is taking Danica Patrick to the NASCAR Nationwide Series in 2010. <P> Danica will drive the No. 7 GoDaddy.com Chevrolet in a partial Nationwide schedule next season, plus one ARCA race. The Go Daddy Girl will be racing as a member of the JR Motorsports (JRM) team owned by Dale Earnhardt, Jr., Rick Hendrick, Kelley Earnhardt and Tony Eury, Jr. through 2011. <P> "It's been a long time coming, but the stars finally aligned for me with Go Daddy and JRM," Danica said just before making her announcement. "I have always said I love to drive, and if I could make it work to race in both IndyCar and NASCAR -- with the right sponsor, like GoDaddy.com and the right team, like JRM -- then I'd love to drive in NASCAR!" <P> Go Daddy CEO and Founder Bob Parsons introduced Danica today as she made it official with the unveiling of her new stock car in front of fans and media outside Chase Field in downtown Phoenix. The Go Daddy Girl had just wrapped up her latest Go Daddy Super Bowl shoot for the world's top domain name registrar and Web hosting provider. She's also planning to attend Go Daddy's annual holiday party to be held Saturday at the ballpark. <P> "As Danica said, the stars aligned," said Parsons. "We're thrilled to expand our long-standing relationship with Danica into NASCAR. This is not only big news for NASCAR fans; it has all the ingredients for some major GoDaddy-esque marketing magic." <P> Parsons and the Go Daddy Girl driver were flanked by the brand new bright green No. 7 GoDaddy.com Nationwide Chevrolet and the equally distinctive 2010 IndyCar at today's news conference. <P> Go Daddy is leveraging its existing relationship with Earnhardt, Jr. who has also driven for Go Daddy in the Nationwide Series and will continue to work as a Go Daddy spokesperson. <P> Dale, Jr.'s sister, Kelley, is VP and GM for JRM and was at today's news conference. She expressed her excitement to have a woman join the team. She also pointed to JRM's experience as a key asset in Danica's foray into NASCAR. "One of the things JRM has to offer is proven NASCAR experience," said Earnhardt. "This is a team sport, and our team will help Danica get up to speed quickly. She's slated to begin working with our crew starting with the upcoming ARCA tests." <P> The move to put IndyCar's Most Popular Driver, and overall media magnet, into a Nationwide car is expected to give NASCAR a much needed boost considering its goal to maintain the sport's enormous fan base. In a recent news conference, NASCAR's CEO Brian France was asked about Danica joining NASCAR. France said, "She has a lot of talent and would be good for NASCAR...I've told her that directly." <P> Danica's NASCAR races would take place before, after and in between her IndyCar schedule. Michael Andretti, owner of Danica's IndyCar team, Andretti Autosport, addressed that issue. "Danica and I are both working hard for a win at the Indianapolis 500 -- keeping the race schedules separate will help keep her focused," Andretti said. <P> The world will surely be watching when Danica drives her bright green GoDaddy.com car in her first-ever stock car race, an ARCA event in Daytona, scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 6 -- the day before the Super Bowl. Danica's latest Go Daddy commercials are set to debut during the Super Bowl. <P> <H2>Danica Patrick Set For Tuesday Announcement</H2> ESPN.com is reporting that Danica Patrick will announce on Tuesday in Phoenix her decision to drive a part-time Nationwide Series schedule for JR Motorsports in 2010, multiple sources told ESPN.com on Monday. GoDaddy.com, which is handling the announcement at an 11 a.m. press conference, sent out a media alert late Monday afternoon. <P> ESPN.com reported last month that Patrick was in the final stages of negotiations with JRM to compete in about a dozen races in a No. 7 -- her number in IndyCar -- Chevrolet with GoDaddy.com as the sponsor. The source said that has not changed. <P> The GoDaddy.com sponsorship will be only for the races in which Patrick drives, sources said. JRM continues to look for sponsors for the No. 88 that will be driven by Kelly Bires and any remaining races for the second car. <P> When Patrick announced her three-year extension with Andretti Autosport last week in New York a picture appeared on her Web site with her in a NASCAR fire suit bearing a JRM and other NASCAR-related logos. It quickly was removed. <P> The plan is to enter Patrick in the ARCA Series opener in February at Daytona International Speedway and get her approved by NASCAR for the Nationwide race.<a href="http://sports.espn.go.com/rpm/nascar/cup/news/story?id=4723006" target="new">(espn.go.com)</a> <P> <H2>Johnson Story Of The Year</H2> Jimmie Johnson winning a fourth consecutive NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championship was voted the sport s top competition story for 2009 by members of the media. <P> Media members ranked the top competition stories of the 2009 NASCAR season on NASCARMedia.com. One hundred seventy-four votes were cast online between Dec. 1 and Dec. 7. Each highlight received 10 points for a first-place vote, nine points for a second-place vote, eight points for a third-place vote, etc. down to one point for 10th. Through its social media channels, NASCAR had received input from fans in listing 20 competition storylines from which the media could choose. <P> Johnson, becoming the first driver in NASCAR history to win four straight NASCAR Sprint Cup titles, garnered 72 first-place votes and finished with 1,676 points. Mark Martin s storybook season  which saw him win five races, claim a career-high seven poles and finish runner-up for the series championship at the age of 50  earned five first-place votes and finished second with 1,432 points. <P> Hendrick Motorsports sweeping the top three spots in the NASCAR Sprint Cup final standings was likewise a first in the sport s history and was ranked third by the media. Johnson, Martin and Jeff Gordon finished 1-2-3, respectively, in the points race. <P> Tony Stewart s successful first season as a driver-owner - both of his Stewart-Haas race teams made it into the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup  was selected the fourth top story. Ron Hornaday Jr. becoming the first driver to win four NASCAR Camping World Truck Series championships was voted the fifth top story. <P> The rest of the top 10 highlights of 2009, according to the media, are: Double-file restarts, shootout style, making a successful debut in the NASCAR Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series; Kyle Busch winning the NASCAR Nationwide Series championship, marking his first national-series crown; Ron Hornaday Jr. winning five consecutive races in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, the most in the modern era in a national series; rookie Joey Logano becoming the youngest NASCAR Sprint Cup Series winner with his victory at New Hampshire in June and Juan Pablo Montoya, in just his third full season of NASCAR racing, making the Chase and finishing eighth in the standings. <P> <H2>RCR Crewman Recovering From H1N1</H2> Richard Childress Racing pit crew member Donald  D.J. Richardson is recovering in a Massachusetts hospital from severe complications due to the H1N1 virus. <P> Richardson, 37, of Leominster, Mass., approximately 35 miles northwest of Boston, joined RCR in July 2009 and finished the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season as the rear-tire changer for the No. 29 Shell-Pennzoil Chevrolet Impala SS team. He contracted the H1N1 virus during a visit to Massachusetts over the Thanksgiving holiday. His condition worsened due to the onset of pneumonia before he went to Health Alliance Hospital in Leominster for evaluation. Doctors quickly admitted Richardson to the hospital s intensive care unit with acute respiratory distress syndrome. <P>  Our thoughts and prayers are with D.J. and his family during this very trying time, said Mike Dillon, RCR s vice president of competition.  All of us at Richard Childress Racing and Earnhardt-Childress Racing Engines wish him a full and speedy recovery. <P> Richardson is unable to accept phone calls or flowers from well-wishers while in the intensive care unit.
